Drop off and pick up should take place on the north and east side of the building. Please see the picture below for the best routes to take.

The Blue dashes show where PARENTS should travel to drop off students or pick them up at dismissal.

The Red dashes are for our BUSSES. Please also note we do have 3-4 busses that drop off and pick up on the east side nearest Primrose. Thank you for leaving them space to pick up and drop off.

Road to the East of the Soccer & Softball field from Primrose is ENTRANCE only to the Back 40 in the A.M. and EXIT only from the Back 40 in the P.M.

Please be patient & flexible as we want to ensure the safety of our student drivers as well. Thank you!

* NO Electronic Devices per Senate Bill 68 - To minimize distractions, enhance student engagement and comply with new state law outlined in Senate Bill 68, SPS students will not be permitted to use Personal Electronic Devices during the school day. Beginning during the 2025-2026 school year, Personal Electronic Devices MUST be turned off, stored in backpacks, and remain out of sight for the entirety of the school day.
What is defined as a Personal Device?
Cell phones, tablets, personal computers gaming devices, headphones/earbuds and any other electronic device (including watches) that can be used for communication, entertainment or accessing the internet.
How will the policy be enforced on your child’s campus?
Students who violate policy will be asked to turn in
their phone to the office. Additional discipline will
be assigned as outlined in the Student Handbook:
Inappropriate Cell Phone Usage. Students who
refuse to turn in their device may face further
disciplinary action. Continued violation of policy
could result in loss of Personal Electronic Devices
while on the school campus.

* Student Parking Permits - Students can purchase their parking decals through Thursday, August 21 by filling out this Google form and paying Mrs. Liston in the financial office. Students who purchased parking decals will choose their parking spots on Friday, August 22 during 1st and 2nd blocks. We will use the all-call intercom system to call students down in the following order based on the students 24-25 attendance percentage: Seniors, Juniors, and then Sophomores.

Students must purchase a parking decal by 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 21 to be able to choose a parking spot on Friday, August 22. If a student does not purchase a decal by this time, they will not be allowed to leave class to do so. Beginning Aug. 19 students may purchase before school, at lunch, or after school. We will begin selling again after spots are chosen and we determine the number of spots still available. Students must have a valid driver’s license to purchase a parking permit – no permit drivers are allowed to purchase.

On Monday, August 25, students and staff are to park in their assigned parking spot.

IF someone parks in your spot – DO NOT park in another numbered spot, (that becomes a domino effect) but park in a visitor spot. Students will then report the issue by filling out the sheet in the attendance office (door 18). Students must have an SPS parking decal and KHS hang tag to park on campus.

NO decal? Park on Jefferson Street in front of the baseball/practice field.
NO Decal? Do NOT park in STAFF, VISITOR, or HANDICAPPED SPOTS at KHS.

* Safety Concern - May 9, 2025
Dear SPS Parents and Guardians,
We are reaching out to inform you about a troubling trend that has emerged on social media that encourages students to intentionally damage or destroy school-issued Chromebooks.
This behavior not only results in costly damage to school property, but it also poses serious safety risks to students and property. Damaging electronic devices can lead to them overheating, smoking or even catching fire, which could result in serious injuries, fire and smoke damage to your property, or exposure to harmful materials.
Students who participate in such actions will face disciplinary consequences, including possible suspension, restitution for damaged property and even the potential for police involvement.
We ask for your partnership in speaking with your child about the importance of using school devices responsibly and the potential consequences of engaging in harmful online trends.
Our top priority is ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment for all students. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your school principal.
Thank you.

* SPS Hall of Fame Nominations are currently being accepted for the Springfield Public Schools Hall of Fame. Each year, SPS selects up to three outstanding graduates to be honored for extraordinary achievement in their personal or professional endeavors.

We celebrate the achievements of all our successful graduates, but for Hall of Fame we are seeking those whose extraordinary contributions may lie outside the traditional spotlight. Perhaps they have chosen a unique path to success or have applied their influence or skills in some remarkable way that has not yet been widely recognized. If you know of someone like this, please nominate them by completing this online form by April 30.

To be eligible for consideration, a nominee must have graduated from SPS at least 10 years ago and have attended all four years at an SPS high school.

The nomination form is easy to fill out. If you don’t know a lot of specifics but have someone in mind, submit what you know and we will do some research.

Potential inductees will exhibit one or more of the following traits:

  • Served as an outstanding role model.
  • Demonstrated a commitment to community service.
  • Achieved a level of personal or professional success that truly distinguishes him or her from other SPS graduates.
  • Made a significant impact on his or her community.
  • Served as an inspiration to others.

Nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee and the finalists will be inducted into the SPS Hall of Fame during a luncheon Oct. 16, 2025.

View Hall of Fame inductees from previous years here.
