Hello, Kickapoo families,

KHS 24 - 25 Bell Schedule 

* Student Grades - eSchool Home Access Center is the official gradebook. You can login here to check student grades. After logging in click Classes to see the most up to date grades entered during the quarter. 

* 1st Quarter Report Cards - Are now available online via eSchool Home Access. Use the link above to login and then click Grades and then Report Card.

* D & F Phone Calls - I make phone calls home for students with a D and/or F in any of their classes each Tuesday after school. These phone calls begin again in November and continue through the end of the first semester. These grades come from a report run at 6:30 a.m. each Tuesday morning.

* FREE Tutoring available every day after school in the Kickapoo library from 3:25 - 4:25. Students will check in and must stay the full time unless a parent or guardian signs them out.

* Spirit Days - Oct. 23 - 31. All costumes should follow school dress code, no masks, no face paint, no weapons.




* Wednesday Late Start - Once students arrive on Kickapoo's campus they are required to remain. Students who leave campus are subject to school discipline.

* Cap & Gown orders due Nov. 7th - Jostens came to give Seniors information about Cap and Gown on Thursday and each student should have a packet. All ordering can be done online at the link below. Cap and Gown package with Cap and Gown and tassel is $18. There are other packages as well, but this is all that is required. Order Deadline is November 7th.

* SPS Choice Expo - SPS is hosting an Expo to learn about the choice programs available to high school students. It will be held at Cox College (1423 N. Jefferson Ave) from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29th.

You can meet teachers, ask questions, and even submit applications!
All programs are for students going into 11th or 12th grade next year.

- GO CAPS
- OTC Career Center
- OTC Middle College
- International Baccalaureate Programme

* Title VI Indian Education Grant Eligibility Form - Springfield Public Schools receives the Title VI Indian Education Formula Grant Program, which is used to offer additional educational services for eligible Native American and Alaskan Native students. We have used the grant to provide tutoring, college prep materials, resources to support cultural awareness, and additional counseling support to students.

If you feel your child or children are eligible for this grant (have tribal membership themselves, or have a parent/grandparent with tribal membership), please complete this Title VI application form and return it to the school office. If you would like a paper copy of the form, they are also available in the school office.

The Cox Care Mobile will be here on Wednesday, November 13 to administer any vaccinations or provide sports physicals. Please fill out the appropriate forms/consent form on the Nurse’s page of our website and turn in paperwork by Monday, November 11. Appointments are required. Our nurse will schedule your appointment when the paperwork gets turned in.

* Student Attendance for Week 10 - Our yearly goal is 95% and we have now dropped to 93.9% for the year.

* Reminders:

  • Any students needing WiFi can request a Kajeet hotspot through our library.
  • Kickapoo will open our doors at 7:40 a.m. and first block begins at 8:10 a.m. every day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday. 
  • Wednesday is late start for students so staff may participate in professional learning. Classes begin at 8:40 a.m. ALL BUSSES WILL RUN AT NORMAL TIMES.
  • Classes end at 3:10 p.m. every day.
  • All students should leave school/campus by 3:45 p.m. unless directly supervised by a teacher, coach, or sponsor.
  • Students should take home Chromebooks every day and charge them each night.
  • Deliveries to school - Parents/guardians may deliver food and other items to school. We ask that you label and leave them on the table. Please communicate with your student to let them know items have been dropped off for them as we do not contact them. 
  • NO FOOD, DRINK, or other DELIVERIES FROM OUTSIDE VENDORS. Thank you! 
  • ID badges and dress code - ALL students must have an ID every day. Follow all dress code expectations. Cover ALL B's!

* Employees of the Month - Congratulations to Karen Davis (principal secretary) and Aaron Scriven (band director) for being named our September Employees of the Month!

* Employees of the Month for October - Please take a moment to recommend a Certified (teacher, counselor, librarian, admin, etc.) & a Non-Certified (secretary, custodian, para, nutrition services, nurses, etc.) staff member as our Employees of the Month. Ms. Davis and Mr. Scriven are not eligible to be named again. Thank you.

Photo should be portrait style, mid stomach and above. No full body, horizontal or selfies. Senior quotes MUST be school appropriate and is subject to omission if it goes against school guidelines.
* Practice ACT for Juniors - This FREE practice test will be held this Tuesday, Oct. 22nd in the Kickapoo Commons. Juniors need to have their Chromebook charged and be ready to test by 8 a.m.

As we enter the final week of the quarter it looks like we are skipping Fall and heading straight to winter for a couple of nights. Make sure and be prepared for the colder weather this week!

Kickapoo announcements Oct. 7 - 11, 2024

Hello Kickapoo families!

We are down to our final nine days of first quarter. Reminder students EARN credits toward graduation EVERY QUARTER. Finish strong!

Fall parent teacher conference night is Thursday, Oct. 10th. To schedule an appointment with any of your student’s teacher, call 417-523-8501 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7th – Thursday, Oct. 10th.

National Honor Society (NHS) Applications - Students who applied to join NHS should have received a Canvas message to look at their NHS Applicant Canvas page about the status of their application. If their application was accepted, they must pay the dues of $40 to the financial office by Friday, October 11. Failure to pay the dues by the deadline will result in forfeiture of their application. If you have any questions, email or see Mrs. Fink before Friday, Oct. 11.

* Student Parking - We have NO spots remaining for the Fall semester. See Mrs. Liston in the Financial Office to be placed on the waiting list. We will have a few spots open after winter break due to early graduates.
* Student Parking - If someone parks in your assigned spot DO NOT park in another numbered spot, (that becomes a domino effect) but park in a visitor spot. Students will then report the issue by filling out the sheet in the attendance office (door 18).
Students must have an SPS parking decal and KHS hang tag to park on campus. No decal? Park on Jefferson Street in front of the baseball/practice field.
* Student Parking - If you have NOT purchased a parking decal do NOT park in STAFF, VISITOR, or HANDICAPPED SPOTS at KHS. Also, do NOT park at Gillenwaters tennis courts, Birch Pointe across the street OR any of our local businesses. You may be fined or towed.

* SPS High School Attendance Requirement for Dances. In order to attend a SPS dance students must meet the following requirements: 

  • 90% overall attendance (school-sponsored activities do not count as absences) by a determined date prior to the dance set by the high school site administration. Kickapoo's next dance is Friday, Feb.7th. Students must have 90% or better attendance by end of day Thursday, Feb. 6th.

  • Must be in attendance the entire school day the day of the dance

  • Must not be serving ISS or OSS on the day of the dance

  • Major discipline infractions (OSS) will result in non-admittance to the school dance

  • Pay ALL fines & fees in Financial office or library before purchasing a ticket
