Hello, Kickapoo families,

It was another beautiful weekend in the Ozarks! We hope you were able to enjoy it.

* Announcements - I send these announcements via Connect 5 text & email and Canvas inbox each weekend during the course of the school year. These announcements include several important items, however, they are not all inclusive. Please remember to check our social media and website for the most up to date information about clubs, athletics, and other important announcements.

KHS 24 - 25 Bell Schedule 

* Student Grades - eSchool Home Access Center is the official gradebook. You can login here to check student grades. After logging in click Classes to see the most up to date grades entered during the quarter. 

* 1st Quarter Report Cards - Are now available online via eSchool Home Access. Use the link above to login and then click Grades and then Report Card.

* D & F Phone Calls - I make phone calls home for students with a D and/or F in any of their classes each Tuesday after school. These phone calls begin again in November and continue through the end of the first semester. These grades come from a report run at 6:30 a.m. each Tuesday morning.

* FREE Tutoring available every day after school in the Kickapoo library from 3:25 - 4:25. Students will check in and must stay the full time unless a parent or guardian signs them out.

* Spirit Days - Oct. 23 - 31. All costumes should follow school dress code, no masks, no face paint, no weapons.




* Wednesday Late Start - Once students arrive on Kickapoo's campus they are required to remain. Students who leave campus are subject to school discipline.

2024-2025 School Calendar: (UPDATED calendar). The last day of school is Friday, May 23, 2025.

* NO School for students Nov. 4 & 5.

* Class of 2025 Kickapoo Graduation will be Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 7 p.m. at Great Southern Bank Arena

* Cap & Gown orders due Nov. 7th - Jostens came to give Seniors information about Cap and Gown on Thursday and each student should have a packet. All ordering can be done online at the link below. Cap and Gown package with Cap and Gown and tassel is $18. There are other packages as well, but this is all that is required. Order Deadline is November 7th.

* SPS Choice Expo - SPS is hosting an Expo to learn about the choice programs available to high school students. It will be held at Cox College (1423 N. Jefferson Ave) from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29th.

You can meet teachers, ask questions, and even submit applications!
All programs are for students going into 11th or 12th grade next year. 

Choice Programs available are:
- Alliance for Healthcare Education
- Fly SPS
- GO CAPS
- OTC Career Center
- OTC Middle College
- International Baccalaureate Programme

* Title VI Indian Education Grant Eligibility Form - Springfield Public Schools receives the Title VI Indian Education Formula Grant Program, which is used to offer additional educational services for eligible Native American and Alaskan Native students. We have used the grant to provide tutoring, college prep materials, resources to support cultural awareness, and additional counseling support to students.

If you feel your child or children are eligible for this grant (have tribal membership themselves, or have a parent/grandparent with tribal membership), please complete this Title VI application form and return it to the school office. If you would like a paper copy of the form, they are also available in the school office.

The Cox Care Mobile will be here on Wednesday, November 13 to administer any vaccinations or provide sports physicals. Please fill out the appropriate forms/consent form on the Nurse’s page of our website and turn in paperwork by Monday, November 11. Appointments are required. Our nurse will schedule your appointment when the paperwork gets turned in.

* SPS University is being hosted by Kickapoo HS on Nov. 7th.  Click --> Registration for SPS University
* Student Attendance for Week 10 - Our yearly goal is 95% and we have now dropped to 93.9% for the year.
* CANVAS HELP - Need help accessing and checking online learning with your student? Click here for a list of resources from SPS. You can also click here for a guide for “how-to” items for parents. Please be sure to reach out with questions as we navigate online learning.

* Reminders:

  • Any students needing WiFi can request a Kajeet hotspot through our library.
  • Kickapoo will open our doors at 7:40 a.m. and first block begins at 8:10 a.m. every day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday. 
  • Wednesday is late start for students so staff may participate in professional learning. Classes begin at 8:40 a.m. ALL BUSSES WILL RUN AT NORMAL TIMES.
  • Classes end at 3:10 p.m. every day.
  • All students should leave school/campus by 3:45 p.m. unless directly supervised by a teacher, coach, or sponsor.
  • Students should take home Chromebooks every day and charge them each night.
  • Deliveries to school - Parents/guardians may deliver food and other items to school. We ask that you label and leave them on the table. Please communicate with your student to let them know items have been dropped off for them as we do not contact them. 
  • NO FOOD, DRINK, or other DELIVERIES FROM OUTSIDE VENDORS. Thank you! 
  • ID badges and dress code - ALL students must have an ID every day. Follow all dress code expectations. Cover ALL B's!
