Kickapoo announcements for March 24 - 28, 2025

Hello Kickapoo families,

Welcome back! We hope everyone enjoyed the time away and is ready for a fast and furious 4th quarter.

* Announcements - I send these announcements via Connect 5 text & email and Canvas inbox each weekend during the course of the school year. These announcements include several important items, however, they are not all inclusive. Please remember to check our social media and website for the most up to date information about clubs, athletics, and other important announcements.

* Student Grades - eSchool Home Access Center is the official gradebook. You can login here to check student grades. After logging in click Classes to see the most up to date grades entered during the quarter. 

* 4th Quarter begins Monday, March 24.

* 4th Quarter Lunch Schedule - Scroll to the very bottom of the document for the 4th quarter list. The only changes are for those who have new quarter classes.

* FREE Tutoring available every day after school in the Kickapoo library from 3:25 - 4:25. Students will check in and must stay the full time unless a parent or guardian signs them out.

2024-2025 School Calendar: The last day of school is Friday, May 23, 2025 and it is a FULL day that ends at 3:10 p.m.

* Class of 2025 Kickapoo Graduation will be Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 7 p.m. at Great Southern Bank Arena

* Senior Announcements - If you ordered Senior Announcements from Josten's they were delivered to Kickapoo on Thursday, March 13. If you did not pick them up they are now in the main office and you may pick up this week between 7:45 and 3:20 each day.
* Senior Send Off - If you would like more information or would like to help with Senior Send Off contact Dr. Cheryl Hall, assistant principal, at clhall@spsmail.org or 417-523-8500.

* Explore (aka Summer School) Registration -High School is fully Virtual and available for two sessions: June 2-27, June 30-July 25
· Students in grades 1-12 have the option to learn online this summer, on their schedule.
· Popular high school online classes include health, personal finance, physical education, driver education and more.
Enroll Online NOW - visit //sps.org/explore to complete the enrollment process. All enrollment will be done through ConnectSPS. Use your current ConnectSPS login or contact your child's school to get logged in.
* Naviance Test Prep for Juniors - Just a reminder about our free Naviance ACT Test Prep resource. Just a few minutes of practice per day prior to our April 15th test day can have a positive impact on scores.

Students can access Naviance through Canvas- Virtual Library> Online Locker> Naviance > Planner > Test Prep.
Students can review the practice test they took in October, use the Practice section for more practice questions and the Lessons section for subject brush-up.
Students signed up for the April ACT should also be enrolled in a Canvas course "Spring 2025 ACT Resources" to access more prep information.

* Spring Testing Dates - 
ACT - April 15th. Juniors taking the FREE ACT exam at Kickapoo will take place on Tuesday, April 15th. More information coming soon.
EOC's - End of Course Exams for Algebra I (select Alg. II students), Biology, English II, and American Government.
Bio - April 28
Govt. - April 28
Alg. I/II - April 29 & 30
Eng. II - April 29 & 30
* Final Exams - Friday, May 23. NO early Finals are given. Any exceptions must be approved by Mrs. Helfrecht (assistant principal).
SPS High School Final Exam Exemption Requirements. Students are eligible for finals exemption by meeting the following criteria: 
  • 90% overall attendance (school-sponsored activities do not count as absences) per semester

  • Received no ISS or OSS for the semester

  • Passing the class with an 80% or greater prior to the final exam

    • Exempt students may take the final to improve their grade in a class; in this case, the final grade cannot hurt the student’s overall grade

    • Required to attend class during the final exam

block and complete optional enrichment tasks

provided Dual credit, AP, IB, and virtual classes

are not eligible for final exemptions.

* Reminders:
  • Any students needing WiFi can request a Kajeet hotspot through our library.
  • Kickapoo will open our doors at 7:40 a.m. and first block begins at 8:10 a.m. every day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday.
  • Wednesday is late start for students so staff may participate in professional learning. Classes begin at 8:40 a.m. ALL BUSSES WILL RUN AT NORMAL TIMES.
  • Classes end at 3:10 p.m. every day.
  • All students should leave school/campus by 3:45 p.m. unless directly supervised by a teacher, coach, or sponsor.
  • Students should take home Chromebooks every day, charge them each night, & bring them to school each day.
* Deliveries to school - Parents/guardians may deliver food and other items to school. We ask that you label and leave them on the table. Please communicate with your student to let them know items have been dropped off for them as we do not contact them.
* NO FOOD, DRINK, or other DELIVERIES FROM OUTSIDE VENDORS. Thank you!
* ID badges and dress code - ALL students must have an ID every day. Follow all dress code expectations. Cover ALL B's!
