Happy Homecoming Week!
We are in the home stretch of 1st quarter and that means grades and credits are earned toward graduation. First quarter ends on Thursday, Oct. 22, (9 school days) so we need students on time and present every day.
I will send these announcements via Connect 5 text message & email, Canvas inbox, and ParentSquare each weekend during the course of the school year. These announcements include several important items, but they are not all inclusive. Please remember to check our social media and website for the most up to date information about clubs, athletics, and other important announcements.
• Game – KHS vs. Waynesville, Kickoff at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.
• Dance - Friday, Oct. 16, 9:30 - 11:30 p.m.
• Tickets are $10 each and will be sold during 3rd block lunch times Monday – Wednesday.

* Students MUST WEAR ID badges at all times during the school day. IF a student does NOT have an ID they must get & wear a temporary ID during the day. IF they never received one OR have lost their ID they must get a new one from the ID badge room.
* ID Badges are required for ALL sporting events. No ID = NO admittance to the game.
* Parent Pick Up - Do NOT park at Birch Pointe OR any of our local businesses for afternoon pickup. You are taking their customer and patients parking spots. You may be fined or towed. Thank you!
* Morning Drop off and Afternoon Pick up - Please do NOT use the Jefferson Avenue entrance as this is where our busses unload each morning between 7:30 and 8:05 and the busses pick up between 3 and 3:20 each day.
* Do NOT drop off or pick up your student in the street. We have had several close calls of students being hit or car accidents happening due to people stopping their cars on Primrose and Jefferson Avenue to pick up students. Thank you for ensuring the safety of all students, including your own.
* KHS 26 - 27 Bell Schedule (W = Wednesday)
* Wednesday Late Start - Once students arrive on campus they are NOT to leave school property. Any students leaving school are subject to school discipline.
* Student Parking Permits - IF someone parks in your spot – DO NOT park in another numbered spot, (that becomes a domino effect) but park in a visitor spot. Students will then report the issue by filling out the sheet in the attendance office (door 18). Students must have an SPS parking decal and KHS hang tag to park on campus.

NO Decal? Do NOT park in STAFF, VISITOR, or HANDICAPPED SPOTS at KHS.
NO decal? Do NOT park at Gillenwater tennis courts, Birch Pointe across the street OR any of our local businesses. You may be fined or towed.
* Entrance/Exit to the Back 40 - The outer road between the KHS soccer field/softball field and the new Cox Hospital construction will be CLOSED from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Thank you.

* Grades - The most current grades can be viewed in Home Access Center at this link where you will login. Then follow this path - Click the Classes button at the top of the screen. Then click the Classwork tab for the current grades.
* D & F phone calls - If you have a D or F in any classes you will receive a phone call from Dr. Powers on Monday evening. If you have questions or concerns please contact your teachers and/or counselors. Thank you.
* Credits/Grades - Students earn credits toward graduation at the end of each quarter. First quarter ends on Thursday, Oct. 22.
* FREE Tutoring - Is held in our library each day we are in session from 3:25 - 4:25 p.m. It is open to all Kickapoo students and all subjects.
* SPS High School Final Exam Exemption Requirements. Students are eligible for finals exemption by meeting the following criteria:
90% overall attendance (school-sponsored activities do not count as absences) per semester.
Received no ISS or OSS for the semester.
Passing the class with an 90% or greater prior to the final exam.
Exempt students may take the final to improve their grade in a class; in this case, the final grade cannot hurt the student’s overall grade.
Required to attend class during the final exam block and complete optional enrichment tasks provided.
Students enrolled in Dual credit, AP, and Launch virtual classes are not eligible for final exemptions.

* Parent Teacher Conferences - Thursday, Oct. 29 from 3:30 - 7 p.m. You can schedule a conference beginning Monday, Oct. 26 - Thursday, Oct. 29 by calling 417-523-8501 between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
* Student Attendance - Make sure your students are on time and in school every day. Students who are present have higher grades and grade point averages than students who are absent. Take advantage of these next 9 school days to ensure students are engaged through the end of 1st quarter.
* Yearbooks are on sale now for $50 at jostens.com Prices will increase next week!
* Spear-It Store is NOW open during 3rd block lunches. Students may visit the store during their lunch period. Anyone can order online here:

- Any students needing WiFi can request a Kajeet hotspot through our library.
- Kickapoo will open our doors at 7:40 a.m. and first block begins at 8:10 a.m. every day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday.
- Wednesday is late start for students so staff may participate in professional learning. Classes begin at 8:40 a.m. ALL BUSSES WILL RUN AT NORMAL TIMES.
- Classes end at 3:10 p.m. every day.
- All students should leave school/campus by 3:45 p.m. unless directly supervised by a teacher, coach, or sponsor.
- Students should take home Chromebooks every day and charge them each night.
- Deliveries to school - Parents/guardians may deliver food and other items to school. We ask that you label and leave them on the table. Please communicate with your student to let them know items have been dropped off for them as we do not contact them.
- NO FOOD or DRINK DELIVERIES FROM OUTSIDE VENDORS. Thank you!
- Dress code - Follow all dress code expectations. Cover ALL B's!
