Kickapoo announcements Dec. 16 - 20, 2019

Kickapoo Families,

Happy Finals Week. I absolutely can't believe the final week of first semester
is here. We've had a great start to the 19 - 20 school year and we look to close
out 2019 strong!
Please let us know if we can be of assistance to you as we are now in the holiday
season. We are here to help.

Below are a few NEW notes and reminders for you. Have a great week!

Early Final Exams
Families:
As a reminder we do not give early finals.  If any student will be missing a final (cruises, visiting family, other vacation trips, etc.), they will need to take the final after they return.  It will be the student’s responsibility to arrange a time with teachers after the break to take the final.

The reasons we approve early finals are as follows:
  1. A student / family member experiences a medical emergency.
  2. There is a death in the family.
  3. A student is moving.
  4. A member of the student’s immediate family is returning from military service or being deployed during the finals days.
If there are any questions about the reason for the student’s absence, feel free to tell the student to come and speak with me.

Thank you,
Jim Harvey, Ed.S.
Assistant Principal for Instructional Services

messages every Monday evening based on their grade as of 6 a.m. each
Monday morning. It is possible grades could change between the time I
run the report and send the message. If you ever have questions or concerns
please contact your students teacher. Thank you.

Interventions for students with Failing grades
We have two new interventions to support students.
IF a student has 2 more more F's in core classes they will be in IPLT (Intensive
Personal Learning Time) Monday - Thursday during PLT (Personal Learning Time) time
to focus on improving in those classes.
We also have an after-school intervention, Chief Intervention Accountability Option,
that is held after school from 3 - 4 p.m. in the library classroom Monday through Thursday.
Students must have an F in a core class to qualify for this intervention. Contact your
students teacher (math, science, social studies, or English) if your student has an F and
you'd like them to attend this intervention.

Does your student need a ride to school OR is your student looking to help students
in need of a ride? Chief Carpooling!
If your student needs a ride to and/or from school on certain days and times or every day, sign up to be a rider and you will be matched with a student who can help!
If your student is looking to help their peers and earn volunteer hours, sign up to be a driver and help! WE ARE IN NEED OF APPROXIMATELY 10 DRIVERS. You can sign up for certain days and times or every day.

Arrival & Dismissal
As a reminder students can arrive/be dropped off as early at 7 a.m. and
classes begin at 7:50 a.m. Monday - Thursday and 8:20 a.m. on Friday's.
We dismiss at 2:50 everyday and students not under the direct supervision of a coach or
teacher must be picked up by 3:30 p.m. each day.
