Sept. 27, 2016 Announcements

Hello Cherokee Families,
It is finally starting to feel like Fall. Get out and enjoy the beautiful weather when you can.
Be sure to read the notes below AND the Daily Announcements each day via our website so you can stay connected with all things Cherokee!
Carline reminder: Please do NOT use your phones in the carline while driving. Recently we almost had a student hit by a driver using his phone. Luckily the student was paying attention. If it is that important for you to be on your phone please park in a parking spot. This is for the safety of your child(ren) and all of our children. Thank you!
Here are a few updates and reminders for you:
1. Daily Announcement and website – Remember you can stay closely connected with these listed events and even more each day by visiting our website HERE. Our Daily Announcements are updated Monday – Friday.
2. PTSA yearly calendar & Clothing Bank signup – Here is the YEARLY CALENDAR with other dates of note and all meeting dates as well. Our next meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 18th at 6 p.m. in the library. You can also find Cherokee PTSA on Facebook HERE. We are looking for volunteers for the SPS PTSA Clothing Bank. Click HERE for dates and times and to sign up. Thank you!

3. We have an amazing team here at Cherokee. Thank you to all the families who submitted a recognition last year! You have no idea how much this means to our teachers and staff. You can complete an Employee Recognition Form here to show them your appreciation. No recognition is too small. Thank you for taking the time to recognize and celebrate our staff!
4.  IGNiTE – Have questions about IGNiTE? Check out this website for more information on IGNiTE. Our website also has links to more information at the top left-hand side of the page under IGNiTE.
5. Superintendent Senior Open Forum representative – Dr. Jungmann is asking each site to identify a “senior” representative this year. This could be a guardian, grandparent, etc. If you or someone you know would be willing please have them contact me as soon as possible. Below are the dates, times, and locations.

6. Bell schedules for Cherokee – We use a few different bell schedules during the school year. These will help you when planning for lunch, appointments, etc. This LINK will take you to a folder with the following schedules - Character Ed, Morning assembly, Sports/Pep Assembly, and our regular bell schedule. The dates are listed at the top of each schedule.
7. Parent Teacher Conferences - We will host parent-teacher conferences on Monday, Oct. 24th from 3 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 27th from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Please remember you do not need to wait until this time to have a conference. You are welcome to contact teachers any time to request a conference.
8. Clubs and Academic Teams - Check the announcements daily for the many opportunities we offer our students outside the classroom. These clubs are typically open to any and all Cherokee students unless specifically noted.
9. PTSA Reflections contest - Are you good at dance, photography, Film, Literature, Musical composition, or Art? This year’s REFLECTIONS theme is What is your story? See daily announcements and main webpage for more information about Reflections. The Reflections group will be holding a pizza party and work event after school on October 12th.  Students interested in attending must register at this link:  https://goo.gl/forms/593kIhKTcr7NSGW22
10. FOOD FIGHT! - September 15 to October 31 #SPSFoodFight #HungerHeroes Get involved in giving. BRING NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS to Cherokee to help Ozarks Food Harvest.
11. Fall Pictures - Will be held Friday, Oct. 14th. We will send home flyers as soon as we receive them.
12. Parent survey - As part of the IGNiTE teaching and learning initiative, the school district partnered with BrightBytes, an educational research and analytics organization that will help us learn more about our schools’ technology use for student learning. We are asking for Parents to please complete this survey as well. It should only take 10-15 minutes. Here is the LINK. Thank you for your time and feedback.
13. PTSA Fundraiser - items will be delivered Tuesday, Sept. 27th and can be picked up between 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Thank you.

7. Spirit Wear - If you ordered spirit wear it will be delivered to students during lunch periods tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 20th.
8. #FearTheSpear t-shirt - Want to order one of these t-shirts? Orders are due tomorrow, Sept. 20th by 8 a.m. You can order via email (see link above) or drop off in the main office. You can pick up shirts after school Sept. 27th in the main office.
9.
