Hello Cherokee Families,
We hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend and enjoyed the official end of summer!
We have another busy week at Cherokee so make sure you read the notes below and the Daily Announcements each day so you can stay connected and in the know!
Here are a few updates and reminders for you:
1. Daily Announcement and website – Remember you can stay closely connected with these listed events and even more each day by visiting our website HERE. Our Daily Announcements are updated Monday – Friday.
2. PTSA yearly calendar & Clothing Bank signup – Here is the YEARLY CALENDAR with other dates of note and all meeting dates as well. Our next meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 20th at 7:30 a.m. in the library. You can also find Cherokee PTSA on Facebook HERE. We are looking for volunteers for the SPS PTSA Clothing Bank. Click HERE for dates and times and to sign up. Thank you!
3. PTSA fundraiser – Turn in date is tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 6 and Wednesday, Sept. 7. Thank you in advance for supporting our PTSA and our students!
4. Book Fair - Is here this week! Tuesday: 7:30 – 3:15; Wednesday: 7:30 – 3:15; Thursday: 7:30 – 5:30 (COME BY AND SHOP BEFORE OR AFTER THE GIRLS' BASKETBALL GAME!); and Friday: 7:30 – 3:15. Click HERE for online info.
5. We have an amazing team here at Cherokee. Thank you to all the families who submitted a recognition last year! You have no idea how much this means to our teachers and staff. You can complete an Employee Recognition Form here to show them your appreciation. No recognition is too small. Thank you for taking the time to recognize and celebrate our staff!
6. IGNiTE – Have questions about IGNiTE? Check out this website for more information on IGNiTE. Our website also has links to more information at the top left-hand side of the page under IGNiTE.
7. Superintendent Senior Open Forum representative – Dr. Jungmann is asking each site to identify a “senior” representative this year. This could be a guardian, grandparent, etc. If you or someone you know would be willing please have them contact me as soon as possible. Below are the dates, times, and locations.

8. Careers in Conservation - 8th grade students/families if you are interested in learning more click HERE for more info. Click HERE for the application. All applications are due to the Cherokee office by Sept. 15th.
9. Bell schedules for Cherokee – We use a few different bell schedules during the school year. These will help you when planning for lunch, appointments, etc. This LINK will take you to a folder with the following schedules - Character Ed, Morning assembly, Sports/Pep Assembly, and our regular bell schedule. The dates are listed at the top of each schedule.
This week we have Character Ed on Wednesday and Pep Assembly Friday.
11. First Progress Report – will be sent home this Friday, Sept. 9th. Please contact teachers with any concerns.
12. Spirit Wear - If you ordered spirit wear it should be in the week of Sept. 12th. It will be delivered to students during lunch periods.
13. Open House - We will NOT have an Open House this year. Be on the lookout for more information on the Parent-Teacher conference schedule. Please remember you may schedule a conference with teachers at any time.
14. Future Chief Night - Is this Friday, Sept. 9th at Kickapoo. Our choir and band will be singing and playing during the festivities.
