Hello Kickapoo families,

April is quickly ending and May is just around the corner. This also means the 21 - 22 school year is quickly coming to a close as well.

A reminder this is a busy time for all students and spring is in the air. Help keep our students focused through the final weeks to finish off the 21 - 22 school year to the best of their ability!

Reminder, these announcements include several important items. However, they are not all inclusive. Please remember to check our social media AND website for the most up to date information about clubs, athletics, activities, and other important announcements.

2021-2022 School Calendar 

* The last day of class for 9th - 11th graders is WEDNESDAYMay 25, 2022. It is a FULL DAY 7:30 - 2:30.

* 4th Quarter grades - Remember you can access grades any time via eSchool Home Access from our website kickapoochiefs.org and find eSchool Home Access under Quick Links on the right side of the page. Teachers should be updating student grades in eSchool on a weekly basis.

* Reminder students earn credits to graduate every 9 weeks. Questions about grades or credits? Please contact your students teachers and/or counselor.

We also offer FREE tutoring with KHS teachers after school M - F until 3:45 p.m. in the library. Just show up ready to learn. 

* My robo calls to families of students with a D or F began Tuesday, April 12th and will continue each Tuesday for the rest of the quarter. Questions about grades? Check eSchool (directions above) and check with teachers. Thank you.

* Senior Cap & Gown delivery - Caps & Gowns are in the main office if you did NOT pick them up last week.

* Senior Meeting - Was held April 21st during PLT time to go over important information for the final weeks of school. Here are the slides as a reminder.

* Important Dates for Seniors - Class of 2022:

April 25th - 29th Senior Prom Tickets on Sale during lunch.
April 29th - Senior Prom 9 - 11:30 pm at Oasis Convention Center.

May 1st - Baccalaureate - Interdenominational celebration of graduating seniors. This is an optional activity for graduates of all five high schools and their families. It will be held at High Street Church, 900 N. Eastgate, at 2 p.m. Seniors wear your cap and gown.

May 4th - EOCs for Seniors who may still need to complete them in Eng. II, Biology, Lib & Law, or Alg. I/II.

May 9th - Senior A + Luncheon for A + Qualifiers. Held in the student center outside the Library during your lunch period. Pick up A + graduation cords, enjoy a nice lunch and enter to win door prizes!  Curious if you qualify… Go see Mrs. Harris in the A + Office! 

May 9th - 12th - Project Graduation Ticket Sales during lunch. Cost is $5 and includes a t-shirt and opportunity to win prizes (TVs, a variety of gift cards, and many other items)!

May 11th - Senior Recognition/Memories Assembly 8:15 am at KHS.

May 12th - Senior Final Exams & Last day of class for Seniors.

Seniors (8th semester) who have an A in their class (except Dual Credit/AP classes) do NOT have to take final exams on May 12th. Check with your teacher for more details.

May 12th - Turn in Chromebooks, chargers, bags, hotspots, and library books by the end of day. 
May 13th - Graduation Practice 9 am KHS Gym.

May 13th - Project Graduation Tickets Sales at Graduation Practice.
May 13th - Graduation at JQH 4:30 pm. Seniors should arrive and enter Hammons Student Center no later than 3:30 p.m. 

May 13th - Project Graduation will be held at Foster Rec Plex at Missouri State. Bus leaves Kickapoo HS parking lot at 10:30 p.m. and returns to KHS at 4 a.m.

Kickapoo Handbook 

*Fees & Fines - must be paid prior to purchasing Senior Prom tickets. Fees may be paid with Mrs. Miller in the Financial office or via My School Bucks. 

To check your fees you must go to MySchoolBucks.com or HERE for more information.

* Dances - Students MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE ALL day the day of the dance in order to attend Senior prom on Friday, April 29th.

* Juniors Class of 2023 - Attention current Juniors!! All incoming seniors must have received one dose of the Meningococcal vaccine after their 16th birthday in order to start school in the fall. Please bring documentation of your vaccine to the nurse by May 2 to ensure a smooth start to 2022-2023.

KICKAPOO U/A+ Volunteerism Hours CHANGE. 

IMPORTANT!! - Current 9th - 11th graders must have ALL volunteer hours for the CURRENT 2021 - 22 school year uploaded on the Canvas course by May 1st. Any and all hours you accumulated THIS SCHOOL YEAR must be recorded by May 1. NO EXCEPTIONS. 

Starting next school year (22 - 23), hours will have to be logged MONTHLY, with a month grace period. 

If a student volunteers between May 1 - August 1 - those hours SHOULD be logged all through the summer months. They must be logged as soon as they are completed.

* Explore registration - Explore (summer school) registration for high school students began on Monday, March 7th. An electronic version of the High School Summer Catalog can be found here.

* Free ACT exam for current JUNIORS - Will be held at Kickapoo THIS Tuesday, April 26th. 

Check in begins at 7:30 a.m. and testing starts at 8 a.m. Please arrive early!

Students MUST have a picture ID (Driver's license OR Kickapoo ID badge) to test.

Bring your CHARGED Chromebook to test.

Phones must be turned off and left in backback/put away.

Bring your own CALCULATOR.

Final Exams for all 9th - 11th graders will take place on Wednesday, May 25th. 

EOC (end of course) exams for students currently taking Algebra I, some Alg. II students, Biology, English II, and Liberty & Law will be held on the following dates:

Algebra I - May 19 - 20.

Algebra IIH (if needed - ask teacher) - May 19 - 20.

Biology - May 19.

English II - May 19 - 20.

Liberty & Law or AP Government - May 23.

* Optional Student Meeting - In an effort to continue to enhance our school climate we are hosting an optional student meeting on May 3rd. Students read here and families read here for more information. Thank you.
* Chromebook repair process - We have created a form for students to request a Chromebook so they can get theirs repaired. It is located in the Tribe Talk course in Canvas.
Please direct students to the link and have them complete the form. We will contact the students to come to the library to pick up or exchange their Chromebook. If they are unable to complete the form, please have a classmate or teacher complete the form for the student.

* Chromebooks - Students should bring a charged Chromebook to school each day. We are limited on the number of loaners we have and first priority goes to students needing repairs. Thank you.

* CANVAS HELP - Need help accessing and checking online learning with your student??? Click here for a list of resources from SPS. You can also click here for a guide for “how-to” items for parents. Please be sure to reach out with questions as we navigate online learning.

* Reminders:

  • Any students needing WiFi can request a Kajeet hotspot through our library. These are FREE!
  • Kickapoo will open our doors at 7 a.m. and first block begins at 7:30 a.m. every day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday. 
  • Wednesday is late start for students so staff may participate in professional learning. Classes begin at 8 a.m. ALL BUSSES WILL RUN AT NORMAL TIMES.
  • Classes end at 2:30 p.m. every day.
  • All students should leave school/campus by 3 p.m. unless directly supervised by a teacher, coach, or sponsor.
  • Deliveries to school - Parents/guardians may deliver food and other school related items to school. We ask that you label and leave them on the table. Due to limited travel students may not be able to come immediately to pick them up. Please communicate with your student to let them know items have been dropped off for them. 
  • NO food deliveries from outside vendors. Thank you for helping to limit the exposures our secretaries and staff encounter.
  • ID badges - ALL students must have an ID every day. 
  • New students can go to 182 to receive an ID. 
  • Lost your ID? Go to 182 or ask your teacher to order you one.
  • Dress Code - Cover up and follow all dress code expectations.
  • Breakfast & Lunch are FREE for all students.

We hope our students had a wonderful three-day weekend!

In case you missed the news the last day of school for 9th - 11th graders is WEDNESDAY, MAY 25TH. It is a full day (7:30 - 2:30). 

Final Exams for all 9th - 11th graders will take place on Wednesday, May 25th. 

Our EOC (end of course) exam schedule for students currently taking Algebra I, some Alg. II students, Biology, English II, and Liberty & Law will be released soon.

* Reminders:

  • Any students needing WiFi can request a Kajeet hotspot through our library. These are FREE!
  • Kickapoo will open our doors at 7 a.m. and first block begins at 7:30 a.m. every day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday. 
  • Wednesday is late start for students so staff may participate in professional learning. Classes begin at 8 a.m. ALL BUSSES WILL RUN AT NORMAL TIMES.
  • Classes end at 2:30 p.m. every day.
  • All students should leave school/campus by 3 p.m. unless directly supervised by a teacher, coach, or sponsor.
  • Deliveries to school - Parents/guardians may deliver food and other school related items to school. We ask that you label and leave them on the table. Due to limited travel students may not be able to come immediately to pick them up. Please communicate with your student to let them know items have been dropped off for them. 
  • NO food deliveries from outside vendors. Thank you for helping to limit the exposures our secretaries and staff encounter.
  • ID badges - ALL students must have an ID every day. 
  • New students can go to 182 to receive an ID. 
  • Lost your ID? Go to 182 or ask your teacher to order you one.
  • Dress Code - Cover up and follow all dress code expectations.
  • Breakfast & Lunch are FREE for all students.

Kickapoo announcements April 4 - 8, 2022

Hello Kickapoo families,

April is here and senior activities are beginning to ramp up!

This is a busy time for all students and spring is in the air. Remain focused through the final weeks to finish off the 21 - 22 school year to the best of your ability!

Reminder, these announcements include several important items. However, they are not all inclusive. Please remember to check our social media AND website for the most up to date information about clubs, athletics, activities, and other important announcements.

* 3rd Quarter Report Cards - are now live in Home Access Center. Thank you.

Remember you can access grades any time via eSchool Home Access from our website kickapoochiefs.org and find eSchool Home Access under Quick Links on the right side of the page. Teachers should be updating student grades in eSchool on a weekly basis.

* Reminder students earn credits to graduate every 9 weeks. Questions about grades or credits? Please contact your students teachers and/or counselor.

We also offer FREE tutoring with KHS teachers after school M - F until 3:45 p.m. in the library. Just show up ready to learn.

* KHS Seniors Are Going Places! - We have a Seniors are Going Places Wall outside the counseling center that we use to display what decisions Seniors have made for future plans.

* Senior Cap & Gown delivery - Caps & Gowns will be available for pick up during lunches on Monday, April 11th for those who ordered in advance. Absent that day? Pick up from the main office after April 11th. 

Haven't ordered your Cap & Gown yet? See you counselor ASAP.

* Senior Meeting - April 21st during PLT time (end of 2nd block) to go over important information for the final weeks of school.

* Important Dates for Seniors - Class of 2022:

April 21st - Valedictorian Breakfast 7:30 am First Watch.

April 25th - 29th Senior Prom Tickets on Sale during lunch.
April 29th - Senior Prom 9 - 11:30 pm at Oasis Convention Center.

May 4th - EOCs for Seniors who may still need to complete them in Eng. II, Biology, Lib & Law, or Alg. I/II.

May 9th - 12th - Project Graduation Ticket Sales during lunch. Cost is $5 and includes a t-shirt and opportunity to win prizes (TVs, a variety of gift cards, and many other items)!

May 11th - Senior Recognition/Memories Assembly 8:15 am at KHS.

May 12th - Senior Final Exams & Last day of class for Seniors.
May 13th - Graduation Practice 9 am KHS Gym.

May 13th - Project Graduation Tickets Sales at Graduation Practice.
May 13th - Graduation at JQH 4:30 pm. Seniors should arrive and enter Hammons Student Center no later than 3:30 p.m. 

May 13th - Project Graduation will be held at Foster Rec Plex at Missouri State. Bus leaves Kickapoo HS parking lot at 10:30 p.m. and returns to KHS at 4 a.m.

2021-2022 School Calendar: The last day of class is tentatively scheduled to be Friday, May 27, 2022. Subject to change due to inclement weather.

Kickapoo Handbook 

*Fees & Fines - must be paid prior to purchasing Senior Prom tickets. Fees may be paid with Mrs. Miller in the Financial office or via My School Bucks. 

To check your fees you must go to MySchoolBucks.com or HERE for more information.

* Dances - Students MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE ALL day the day of the dance in order to attend Senior prom on Friday, April 29th.

* Tryout Season - Please check our website and the daily announcements regarding tryouts for the 22 - 23 school year.

* Explore registration - Explore (summer school) registration for high school students began on Monday, March 7th. An electronic version of the High School Summer Catalog can be found here.

* Free ACT exam for current JUNIORS - Will be held at Kickapoo on Tuesday, April 26th. 

Check in begins at 7:30 a.m. and testing starts at 8 a.m.

Students MUST have a picture ID (Driver's license OR Kickapoo ID badge) to test.

Bring your CHARGED Chromebook to test.

Phones must be turned off and left in backback/put away.

Bring your own CALCULATOR.

April 19th - ACT Bootcamp at Kickapoo from 8 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. to pre-register all juniors and to go over test taking tips/tricks in math, science, reading, and English. BRING your CHARGED Chromebook with you.

* 2022 - 2023 SPS School Calendar
* Chromebook repair process - We have created a form for students to request a Chromebook so they can get theirs repaired. It is located in the Tribe Talk course in Canvas.
Please direct students to the link and have them complete the form. We will contact the students to come to the library to pick up or exchange their Chromebook. If they are unable to complete the form, please have a classmate or teacher complete the form for the student.
Let us know if you have any questions.

* Chromebooks - Students should bring a charged Chromebook to school each day. We are limited on the number of loaners we have and first priority goes to students needing repairs. Thank you.
