Feb. 22, 2016 Announcements

Hello Cherokee Families,

What a beautiful weekend we had. I hope each of you were able to enjoy the sunshine and unseasonably warm weather. It looks like the potential for some winter precip is possible.

A reminder we have just 10 school days remaining in 3rd quarter. Please continue to encourage and support our students to finish strong. Need help or guidance? Don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teachers or counselor at any time. We are here to help.

Two resources I have found valuable in educating our children and parenting a middle schooler are All-Pro Dad and Common Sense Media.
From Common Sense Media - Privacy and Internet Safety
The Smart Talk - The Smart Talk gets parents and kids together to have a clear conversation about all the devices you use and how to be responsible.

Here are additional resources you may find of great use:
cyberbullying.us (Cyberbullying Research Center)
cyberbullying.us/report (to report cyberbullying and have offensive posts/pics taken down)
moicac.org (tech safety information)

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions, clarifications, or concerns at any time.

This summer, Explore will offer students eight weeks of exciting opportunities to pursue their unique interests and passions. From May 26 through July 29, each day will be packed with engaging, relevant and personal learning opportunities, enriched by integrated technology, exciting field experiences and hands-on activities.
Through partnerships with Mercy Hospital, Askinosie Chocolate, local conservation agencies and high school drama department's, middle school students may engage in experiences they never imagined possible.
New this year, Artworks will be offered free at two locations. Middle school students who attend Artworks in the morning will have the option of riding a bus to a nearby middle school to take other course offerings in the afternoon.
Middle school students will attend classes Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be no classes May 30, July 1, or July 4. With free transportation for eligible students and breakfast and lunch served at every school, Explore will offer a great experience for everyone.

You can complete an Employee Recognition Form here (the link is functioning again) to show them your appreciation. No recognition is too small. Thank you for taking the time to recognize and celebrate our staff!
