Kickapoo announcements Jan. 20 - 24, 2020

Kickapoo Families,

We hope each of you had a fantastic weekend.

As we are entering our third week of the quarter this means our first
progress report will be available soon. This also means I will begin sending
out phone calls to families of students with a D or F.
Please continue to monitor eSchool Home Access and stay in communication
with teachers if you have questions.

GO CAPS 2020 - 2021 Informational meetings for current Sophomores and Juniors.

Tuesday, Jan. 21: Business & Entrepreneurship AND IT & Software Solutions, 6 PM at eFactory – 405 North Jefferson Ave.

Thursday, Jan. 23: Medicine & Health Care, 6 PM at Cox North Fountain Room – 1423 North Jefferson Ave.  (Cox College of Nursing entrance)

Tuesday, Jan. 28: Engineering & Manufacturing, 6 PM at SRC Logistics – 3055 East Division

Wednesday, Jan. 29: Teacher Education, 6 PM at Sherwood Elementary – 2524 South Golden

Wednesday, Feb. 12: All Strand Informational Review, 6 PM at eFactory – 405 North Jefferson Ave.

KHS 2020 - 2021 Scheduling Information

• KHS Schedule Info Day Jan. 22. All students will be coming to the PAC on Wednesday based on the following schedule:

1^st Block: Freshman
1^st Floor – Come to the PAC – 8
2^nd Floor – Come to the PAC – 8:40
2^nd Block: Sophomores
1^st Floor – Come to the PAC – 9:40
2^nd Floor – Come to the PAC – 10:25
4^th Block: Juniors
1^st Floor – Come to the PAC – 1:30
2^nd Floor – Come to the PAC – 2:10

Students with D's or F's
If your student has a D or F in any class I will begin to send phone
messages again on Monday, Jan. 27th. This is based on their grade as of 6 a.m.
each Monday morning. It is possible grades could change between the time I
run the report and send the message. If you ever have questions or concerns
please contact your students teacher. Thank you.

Interventions for students with Failing grades
We have two newer interventions to support students.
IF a student has 2 more more F's in core classes they will be in IPLT (Intensive
Personal Learning Time) Monday - Thursday during PLT (Personal Learning Time) time
to focus on improving in those classes.
We also have an after-school intervention, Chief Intervention Accountability Option,
that is held after school from 3 - 4 p.m. in the library classroom Monday through Thursday.
Students must have an F in a core class to qualify for this intervention. Contact your
students teacher (math, science, social studies, or English) if your student has an F and
you'd like them to attend this intervention.

Nominate Teachers for Teacher of the Year

Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year. To nominate a teacher for this honor, simply click on the link below. To be eligible, the nominee must have four or more years teaching experience with SPS. The nomination form is simple and can be submitted by a student, parent, co-worker or supervisor. Just fill out the pertinent information and explain in 100 words or less why you are nominating the individual. All nominations will be kept confidential. Nominations must be submitted by 4:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 31.

NOMINATE HERE Does your student need a ride to school OR is your student looking to help students
in need of a ride? Chief Carpooling! 
If your student needs a ride to and/or from school on certain days and times or every day, sign up to be a rider and you will be matched with a student who can help!

If your student is looking to help their peers and earn volunteer hours, sign up to be a driver and help! WE ARE IN NEED OF APPROXIMATELY 10 DRIVERS. You can sign up for certain days and times or every day.

Arrival & Dismissal
As a reminder students can arrive/be dropped off as early at 7 a.m. and
classes begin at 7:50 a.m. Monday - Thursday and 8:20 a.m. on Friday's.
We dismiss at 2:50 everyday and students not under the direct supervision of a coach or
teacher must be picked up by 3:30 p.m. each day.
