National School Counselor Week
Thank you Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Busboom, Mrs. Moran, Mr. Billy, and Mrs. Wallace for all you do for our students, families, and staff. We appreciate you!
The first week of February is National School Counselor Week (NSCW) 2020. The purpose of this week is to acknowledge and celebrate the role of a school counselor. I hope you will join in as we work to recognize the important work that school counselors do with students, staff, and families throughout our district.

The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) has a theme each year. This year’s theme is “Building Better Humans”. ASCA has put together ready-to-use resources. They have social media challenges with prompts for each day of the week. The prompt for Thursday (2/6/20) is perfect for you to have staff and students complete and post to social media using the hashtag #NSCW2020.

Library Survey for Parents
We want to hear from you!  Please click this link to complete a survey about KHS Library.

Students with D's or F's
If your student has a D or F in any class I am sending phone messages on Monday
evenings. This is based on their grade as of 6 a.m. each Monday morning. It is possible grades
could change between the time I run the report and send the message. If you ever have questions
or concerns please contact your students teacher. Thank you.

Interventions for students with Failing grades
We have two newer interventions to support students.
IF a student has 2 or more F's in core classes they will be in IPLT (Intensive
Personal Learning Time) Monday - Thursday during PLT (Personal Learning Time) time
to focus on improving in those classes.
We also have an after-school intervention, Chief Intervention Accountability Option,
that is held after school from 3 - 4 p.m. in the library classroom Monday through Thursday.
Students must have an F in a core class to qualify for this intervention. Contact your
students teacher (math, science, social studies, or English) if your student has an F and
you'd like them to attend this intervention.

SUMMER SCHOOL aka Explore Registration
Registration for high school students begins on March 2nd. Go here https://www.sps.org/explore for more information.

Does your student need a ride to school OR is your student looking to help students
in need of a ride? Chief Carpooling!
If your student needs a ride to and/or from school on certain days and times or every day, sign up to be a rider and you will be matched with a student who can help!
If your student is looking to help their peers and earn volunteer hours, sign up to be a driver and help! WE ARE IN NEED OF APPROXIMATELY 10 DRIVERS. You can sign up for certain days and times or every day.

Arrival & Dismissal
As a reminder students can arrive/be dropped off as early at 7 a.m. and
classes begin at 7:50 a.m. Monday - Thursday and 8:20 a.m. on Friday's.
We dismiss at 2:50 everyday and students not under the direct supervision of a coach or
teacher must be picked up by 3:30 p.m. each day.
