Hello Cherokee Families,
How many more weeks of winter? Thank you so
much for taking extra caution this morning as our parking lot was still slick
in a few areas.
A quick note/reminder regarding drop off and
pick up. I want to thank all of you who pull as far forward as possible. It is
a tremendous help.
It has come to my attention the afternoon
pick up is causing some concerns out on Plainview Road. Parents/Families –
please do NOT pick up, or drop off in the morning, your students while you are
sitting in traffic on Plainview. This is very dangerous.
Thank you again to everyone who pulls forward
as far as possible in the mornings and afternoon.
I’m sure you all are looking forward to
Spring Break next week. At this point the long term forecast looks favorable
for the early part of Spring Break. . .let’s hope so.

2. Artworks - The
Artworks program is so much fun they don’t know they’re learning!
Artworks
is designed to foster an appreciation of art for students entering grades 3-8
for the 2015-2016 school year. Artwork introduces students to a variety of
materials and artistic concepts to evoke their curiosity and to hone their
natural creativity. Students work with professional artists who teach students
in a fun, relaxed environment where they can express their creativity and gain
self-confidence.
Enroll
at the Summer School office located in the Kraft Administrative Center, 1359 E.
St. Louis St. beginning at 9 a.m. on March 2. The $30 supply fee is due
at the time of registration. Students receiving free/reduced lunch during
the regular school year can apply for a fee waiver.
There
are two Artwork sessions. The first is June 15-26 and the second is July
6-17. A morning section, 8:30 – 10 a.m., and an afternoon section, 12:30
– 2 p.m. is offered during each session. Students may attend both
sessions but only one section in each session. Artwork classes will be
held at Bingham Elementary, 2126 E. Cherry St.

Description: Our
Design and Modeling classroom learns the specifics of 2-dimensional and
3-dimensional designs. Students use their learned knowledge to take
2-dimensional designs and create them in 3D using computer software. This class
would like to take the next step in the design process by taking the 3D
computer-generated design and constructing a 3D physical model utilizing the 3D
pen. The 3D Pen is an engaging educational tool that allows the user to create
real 3-dimensional objects; a pen that puts the power of a 3D printer in the
palm of each student.
