Oct. 26 - 30 announcements

Hello Cherokee Families,
I’ve shared info regarding IGNiTE a few times this year. Our students will receive their Chromebooks on Wednesday, Nov. 4th.
Students are being given the following informational items to take home this week or you may access them via the hyperlinks below:

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions, clarifications, or concerns at any time.

Here are a few updates and reminders for you:
1.  FOOD FIGHT! - Thank you for all contributions. If you planned to donate and forgot please turn them in as soon as possible as Ozarks Food Harvest is coming this week to pick up our donations.
2. PTSA Reflections contest - This is a fine art opportunity for all of our students. The 2015 - 2016 theme is “Let Your Imagination Fly” and you can find the rules and entry form HERE. Deadline is this Friday, Oct. 30th. Please turn in to the main office.
3. Spirit Wear sales Take 2 - The second and final round of PTSA spirit wear sales will conclude this Friday, Oct. 30th. We’ve add a few additional styles for winter & a Kickapoo shirt as well. Click HERE for more info.
4. Legislative rally - Thursday, Nov. 5 the Springfield Council of PTAs and Missouri PTAs will hold its General Meeting at Kickapoo High School at 6 p.m. Students of the PTSAs will have a chance to ask questions along with teachers and parents. Food and childcare will be provided. Several elected offices will be represented: Blunt, McCaskill, Long, Norr, Huff and more.
Please send potential questions for the candidates to   kickapooptsa@gmail.com
5. Kickapoo Health Expo - Eighth grade future Chiefs who are interested in health fields are invited to attend Thursday, Oct. 29th from 6:30 - 8 pm in the Kickapoo Commons. KHS will have a wide range of health service professionals to talk with students about their field and answer questions.  Students and parents are welcome to attend.  Please see our daily announcements (#8 below) for more information.
6. MAP scores - These scores will be given to families attending Parent-Teacher conferences this week. If you do not attend P/T conferences we will be sending these scores home with students this week.
7. APR scores - You may have seen in the media over the weekend information about our ‘Report Card.’ Cherokee did receive 90 of 100 (90%) possible points which is down slightly from 91.4% we earned last year. We have much to celebrate, but we will continue to work to meet the needs of all of our students. If you have any questions regarding these scores please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time.
8.  Daily Announcement and website – Remember you can stay closely connected with these listed events and even more each day by visiting our website HERE. Our Daily Announcements are updated Monday – Friday.
9. No school for students on Nov. 2nd and 3rd. Students return to school on Wednesday, Nov. 4th.
10. Picture retake day - Friday, Nov. 6th. More information to follow.
11. Transitional Transfers - Current 5th & 8th grade student families - if you desire for your child to attend a middle or high school other than the school that serves your address, a transitional transfer request form must be completed. The window to complete this is from 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2nd through Friday, Dec. 4th at 4 p.m. You can find the form on the Cherokee website or HERE. Please let me know if you have any questions.
12. We have an amazing team here at Cherokee. Thank you all the families who submitted a recognition this year! You have no idea how much this means to our teachers and staff.
You can complete an Employee Recognition Form here (the link is functioning again) to show them your appreciation. No recognition is too small. Thank you for taking the time to recognize and celebrate our staff!
Please don’t hesitate to contact us at any time.
Have a great week and as always #GoIndians
