Hello Cherokee Families,
This is the final week of the 1st quarter! Can you believe it?!
This week is also spirit week as we wrap up our Fall sports season.
Today - Comfy Day. Tuesday - Maroon Out/Cherokee gear. Wednesday - Pink Out/Breast cancer awareness. Thursday - Twin Day. Friday - Dress up/Picture Day.
Here are a few updates and reminders for you:
1. School picture day - Is this Friday, Oct. 9th. Forms will be sent home and information our on website at least one week in advance.
2. FLU shots/mist - will be available at Cherokee on Oct. 16th. Check our website for more information. Here is the CONSENT FORM
3. End of 1st quarter - is this Friday, Oct. 9th.
4. No school for students - Oct. 12th. Second quarter begins Tuesday, Oct. 13th.
5. Parent/Teacher conference week - Conferences will be held Monday, Oct. 26th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 28th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. We are asking families to please reserve these times only if your child is struggling in a specific course/class. Thank you. You may now schedule a conference any time by contacting your child(ren)s teachers.
6. Daily Announcement and website – Remember you can stay closely connected with these listed events and even more each day by visiting our website HERE. Our Daily Announcements are updated Monday – Friday.
7. More student Clubs available → Please check the announcements on our website and above (#6) for more information on how our students can get involved.
8. PTSA Reflections contest - This is a fine art opportunity for all of our students. The 2015 - 2016 theme is “Let Your Imagination Fly” and you can find the rules and entry form HERE. Deadline is Oct. 30th.
9. We have an amazing team here at Cherokee. Thank you to the three families who submitted a recognition recently! You have no idea how much this means to our teachers and staff.
You can complete an Employee Recognition Form here (the link isn’t currently working, but should be very soon) to show them your appreciation. No recognition is too small. Thank you for taking the time to recognize and celebrate our staff!
10. IGNiTE - Parents please take approximately 5 minutes to complete this technology survey by this Friday, Oct. 9th. Thank you.
11. Box Tops - See this flyer for a way to easily contribute 5 box tops to Cherokee PTSA. You may turn in Box Tops to any teacher. Thank you.
12. Girls basketball & Football - both end this week. The girls tournament begins today (Monday) and will be held at Cherokee on Monday and Tuesday at 3 p.m. & 4:15 p.m..
7th grade championship is Wednesday evening at Glendale and 8th grade championship is Thursday at Glendale. Times to be announced.
According to SPS athletics office passes will NOT be accepted at the tournament.
The final football game is Tuesday evening at Glendale with 7th grade at 5:30 p.m. and 8th grade immediately following.

13. Wrestling & Boys basketball - are coming soon. Wrestling info can be found HERE. PRACTICE TIMES/LOCATION HAVE CHANGED. All practices will be at Cherokee from 4:45 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Basketball tryouts are: 7th grade Oct. 15th & 16th and 8th grade is Oct. 13th & 14th.
14. Spirit Wear sales Take 2 - The second round of PTSA spirit wear sales have begun and will go through Oct. 30th. We’ve add a few additional styles for winter & a Kickapoo shirt as well. Click HERE for more info.
15. FOOD FIGHT! - Cherokee is participating in the Ozarks Food Harvest Food Fight from Oct. 12 - 23. Please see our announcements (#6) for specific needs.
